Dear Lew,
On the way to school this morning, my 5th-grade son informed me that his school (http://madisonaz.org/traditional-academy-school/home/ ) was not going to let the students outside to see the eclipse. His solution was to ask to use the bathroom during the eclipse and sneak a peak. Sheer genius! I consulted him on the best way to accomplish this feat. Later, he updated me from school to let me know that no students would be allowed to leave the classroom during the eclipse, and that all of the classroom windows had been covered up in order to prevent any risk of unauthorized eclipse viewing. Worse yet, there was no livestream of the event. Via text, he then pleaded for me to come and get him out of school to view the event. The school was in lockdown…over the solar eclipse.
Quite ironically, Madison Traditional Academy’s slogan is “Where Learning Never stops”.
