Writes Greg Privette:
Lew,
I saw your post on the Political Theatre which said in part:
“Lift the evil anti-trade sanctions against Russia. They’re acts of war.”
As you may recall I just purchased and read some Pearl Harbor books based on recommendations from David Gordon (thank you!). One was “Day of Deceit”, which I bought for one of my brothers but had to read myself before giving it to him. The other I read was “Back Door to War”. That book is primarily about the diplomatic and political machinations throughout the 30’s leading up to the war. It includes many quotes and positions from newspapers around the country during the time leading up to WW II. Back then many of the papers condemned the economic sanctions being imposed on Japan as “an act of war” or at least “leading to war”. Today everyone in the media seems to have bought into the idea that sanctions somehow prevent war or are some type of alternative to war. It seems back then much of the MSM knew the truth and were willing to speak it. My how times have changed.
