A hallmark of 2022: Normalizing the abnormal

Thanks, Southern Catholic Mom.

Remember the recent news blurbs that “children have strokes, too“?

Now, this pregnant mother tells us we need to “normalize“ the occurrences of paralysis in pregnant moms, like her own recent medical emergency of having developed Bell‘s Palsy during her first pregnancy. A doctor in this news segment mentioned that Bell‘s Palsy, which doctors do not know much about and do not have a good treatment for (it usually just goes away slowly on its own), rather mimics a stroke.

Now what new vector could we be experiencing such that we now start to see stroke-mimicking paralysis in pregnant women and strokes in children, events which were, until recently, not normal and statistically unheard of? Anything new in the last couple of years?

But, if we are going to have Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that say “children have strokes too“ and “pregnant women can become paralyzed“ … AND we actually use the word “normalize“ … that we recondition ourselves to accept these horrific medical emergencies as some sort of new normal, then we can know we are being misled by especially wicked propaganda.

The young mother went on to say that if she had just had photos of other paralyzed pregnant mothers, it would have helped her “normalize“ it when it happened to her.

Yes, folks, that is where we are in 2022, normalizing paralysis, and normalizing strokes in children. See here and here.
