Regarding my article today, “Why I Could Never Be Elected to Office,” I want to say thanks to all those who said they would vote for me. Since I will not be running for office, I’m afraid you won’t have a chance, but I see where you are coming from. I will say this, if any real libertarian (not Republican pretenders) is seeking office, the answer to any problem or issue will never be passing new legislation. The only goal any libertarian officeholder should have is to abolish and repeal, to quote the words of Barry Goldwater from David Franke’s article today: “My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden.”
