Many thanks go to Marcus Epstein for reproducing Zora Neale Hurston’s famous letter to the editor today in which she criticizes Brown v. Board. Professor Stephan Thernstrom assigned it to us in college and I’ve tried to track it down again ever since.
Incidentally, also lost down the memory hole is that only about half of Southern blacks polled said they supported the decision.
