Thank You for LRC

Writes a friend:

Hi Lew,

I wanted to send you a note of thanks, as, I have been following your blog for more than six years and wanted to let you know how grateful I am for your presentation of the most incredible ideas that have changed the way I see the world.

I stumbled across your blog when I was Child Protective Services worker fas an attempt to discredit the “anti-government” lunatics out there. I spent four years with CPS and I became increasingly disillusioned with the Child Welfare System. Many wonderful libertarian thinkers knew this from a philosophical/theoretical perspective, but, for me, the reality was that each Bureau of the State parasitically attempts to siphon more and more money from the taxpayers to ensure its continued existence.

When dealing with children, this is particularly egregious. Quietly, I would advise parents of their constitutional rights and do everything I could to make sure that children were not removed from the home. Since the bureaucratic red-tape in the investigation process was so muddled, I was able to find ways to get around having to rip children away from their parents for petty reasons.

I began to read your blog more, and, started listening to the Tom Woods show. It was a curiosity that I had after a friend told me that he wrote an “interesting” book on Nullification. You happened to appear on one of Tom’s shows and encouraged those beginning to explore Libertarianism to “Read Rothbard!” I immediately read “Anatomy of the State” in one evening, which, quite frankly, transformed my entire worldview. It affirmed everything that I intuitively believed the State to be and more. From that point forward (with many steps in between), I reinvented myself, got out of the baby snatching profession and have been in the productive sector ever since.  I am now working with a fantastic organization and have fallen in love with business, Austrian Economics (Recently completed the Mises Bootcamp), and all things Libertarian. Truthfully, I have never been happier.

I am not entirely sure where my psychological well-being would be at if it were not for your articles pointing out the inherent “evil” of the State and the “anti-politics” of the free market. The principled message you constantly deliver on a daily basis is the dose of medicine I needed to eventually embrace anarcho-capitalism. Please, do not ever water down the message! Be brutal, bold, and keep fighting the good fight!

God Bless You, LRC, and the Mises Institute.
