The speaker of this idea is former CIA Acting Director John McLaughlin. Here’s more of his thinking:
“Thank god for the Deep State. Everyone here has seen this progression of diplomats and intelligence officers and White House people trooping up to Capitol Hill right now and these are people doing their duty and responding to a higher call. With all of the people who knew what was going on here, it took an intelligence officer to step forward and say something about it, which was the trigger that unleashed everything else.
“Now, why does that happen? This is the institution in the U.S. government with all of its flaws, and it makes mistakes, is institutionally committed to objectivity and to telling the truth. It is one of the few institutions in Washington that is not in a chain of command that makes or implements policy. Its whole job is to speak the truth. Is engraved in marble in the lobby.”
The first paragraph is of no importance, because it’s all baloney. The “intelligence officer” did what he was inserted in the White House to do, which was spy, report to Adam Schiff and fabricate a case against Trump. The second paragraph is more important because of its string of falsehoods that McLaughlin claims he believes and that he asserts. The CIA doesn’t tell the truth, as he claims. When’s the last time the CIA spoke truth to us Americans? McLaughlin himself can’t even tell the truth here. He claims that the CIA doesn’t “make or implement policy”. Actually, the CIA formulates policy options from which presidents are instructed to choose; it has an very important hand in formulating policies. Certainly the CIA has implemented policies in dozens of countries ever since its founding; and it still does. It has played direct roles in assassinations, revolutions, arms shipments, drug deals, uprisings, most recently in shipping arms to terrorists in Syria. Its whole job is speaking the truth?? The CIA not only intervenes in countries, but it controls elements of the media so as to propagate the narratives that it shapes and cover up truths of what’s really happening.
Has the American public been informed unambiguously about the CIA’s role in arming, directly and indirectly, terrorist groups in Syria that were anti-Assad? Do we know how much, when, where and to whom? Do we know how much of these arms were stolen, and how much diverted to al Qaeda and ISIS? The CIA doesn’t tell us these truths.
If the CIA were so great, why would John Kennedy wanted to have broken it up into a thousand pieces?
Didn’t the CIA create the Cuban invasion policy, and didn’t it handle the Bay of Pigs invasion? Didn’t the CIA get the head of Iran overthrown in 1953? There must be dozens of exposes of direct CIA interventions in other countries, as here. The late William Blum has documented numerous CIA activities that “implement” policies of the U.S.
If someone like McLaughlin can make such outrageously false claims to our face, what are we to think but the worst of the organization he’s defending of which he was at one time Acting Director?
And why are we not entitled to infer that the Ukraine accusations against Trump and the subsequent impeachment ruckus promoted on its foundation are both big nothings, big lies also, schemes devised by the devious minds of slimy politicians like Adam Schiff in league with the deceivers who are his pals in the CIA?
What else can we possibly conclude but that Adam Schiff is leading an evil endeavor? Why else would he be holding hearings in secret but then leaking selected bits and pieces designed to damage Trump? Why would he be suborning perjury? Why else would he be badgering and leading witnesses and attempting to control what they say? Why else would he suppress testimony that changed the context or meaning of testimony? Why else would the procedures for gathering evidence deny due process and deny rights of Republicans on his committee? Why else would Schiff be promoting hearsay testimony at second, third and fourth hand? Why would Schiff be hiding how he arranged this entire hoax or stunt? Why would he hide his role in instigating it and meeting with unnamed accusers? Where is the truth in who is leaking and what they are leaking? Does McLaughlin really want to associate his name and reputation with such an evil process? Does he think that we’re going to accept his ridiculous statements at face value?
