Dear Professor Block,
Libertarianism is flooding the minds of people at a dizzying pace in different parts of the world. One of the main strengthens of libertarian project is the coherence of its academic speech. With the aim of making evident such academic structure to the people of the Spanish-speaking countries, we want to develop a journal that consolidates the libertarian responses to the main problems of current societies, whose name will be “Revista Estudios Libertarios”
We know about your important academic career, strong influence in libertarian movement, and seriousness, therefore, it would be very pleasant and an honor for us to have your support in this project, helping us with the wording of the prologue of our first edition. The style is free.
This first edition, which we hope to publish next June, will address ten issues related with the “libertarian rights” or negative rights, following the theoretical line sketched in your work, especially in the “Defending the Undefendable” series. Hence, the subtitle of this inaugural edition will be “Essays in honor of Walter Block”. Also, an image of you will appear on the cover, as long as you authorize it.
The content of this edition obeys to global juncture. The perverse welfare state ideology has provided the flame for the “explosion of rights”. Nowadays, most of them are considered unquestionable axioms for the flourishment of a civilized society, such as healthcare, education, or housing, and other newer ones: water access, wi-fi, nutrition, or basic income.
The journal will be published by the Mises Colombia Institute (MisesColombia.co) and by the Foundation for Economic Education in Spanish (FEE.com.co), without profit for us.
