Senator Schumer Finally Does It

He introduces, as promised, his bill to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level by removing it from the government’s list of controlled substances. This could have been a good test of conservative Republicans who talk about limited government and federalism and the Constitution. Alas, there are too many other things in the bill that will cause Republicans to not vote for it. See the analysis by Adam Dick of the Ron Paul Institute. But if the bill were a clean bill that would just decriminalize marijuana, would Republicans vote for it? Don’t bet on it, since Republicans are mostly nanny statists who only give lip service to the Constitution.
