Mueller’s 2-Page Letter to Barr

Mueller’s 2-page letter to Barr, like Barr’s letter, fed the voracious appetites of the anti-Trump forces. Having failed to nail Trump with smoking guns of collusion or conspiracy or obstruction of Mueller’s inquiries, they are keeping their soft coup attempts alive by now attacking Barr. Mueller’s letter gave them a pretext, a focal point to make up some new fiction.

Mueller’s letter contains no substance whatsoever to support any attacks of substance on Barr, any more than Barr’s 4-page letter did. It contains fabricated, imagined, concocted, and trivial complaints, which are politically calculated.

Barr called the Mueller letter “snitty”, which means disagreeably ill-tempered. That’s only part of the story. I think its devious aim was to control the narrative, keep the case from being closed, and assert control over the disposition of both the Mueller report and its impact on Congress and the public. The idea behind it was to disparage Barr’s decision not to go forward with obstruction of justice and to imply that Congress really should move ahead and pin the obstruction of justice charge on Trump. Mueller’s report has the devious intent of being made, not for the Department of Justice or Attorney General to dispose of, but for the Congress to dispose of.

Mueller complains in a snitty manner that his report’s introduction and executive summaries should have been made public. Barr’s shorter abstract, according to Mueller, “did not fully capture” the report’s “context, nature, and substance”.

Of course it didn’t FULLY capture it. It’s a summary! Who says it should or has to FULLY capture the report’s substance anyway? That’s Barr’s job, not Mueller’s. Who says that the report’s own introduction and summaries capture the report’s meaning either? A songwriter can’t control how singers sing his song, and a report writer in Mueller’s position can’t control what people make of his report. Mueller is acting to assert control but he no longer has such control. He may testify before Congress, however, at which time a new battle will emerge.

Mueller’s complaint that “There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation” is as phony and disingenuous as they come because the full report’s release was pending in a very short time.

He raises a phony specter that has us all shaking in our boots, that by not providing a fuller summary and/or by providing his shorter summary, “This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations.” What threat? The report was to become public, more or less fully, in short order. Why would a short and necessary delay shake “public confidence”? If Barr was saying inaccurate things or leaving out critical details, the public would find out very soon, within 2-3 weeks.

Muller’s letter, however vacuous, served its political purpose of providing the anti-Trump forces with more content for their fake narratives.

We are now fully behind the looking glass. It has become our crazy reality. It has got to the point where someone, maybe it was Nancy Pelosi, floats the idea or gets the idea going that Trump won’t step down in 2020 if he’s defeated. Pelosi now says that Trump is impeaching himself daily. How? By refusing to kowtow to politically-inspired attacks on him and his administration via senseless subpoenas and contempt citations? Anyone with an ounce of brains can see that these anti-Trump attacks are entirely without merit, especially since the Mueller investigation doesn’t find evidence of Russia-Trump collusion. Trump should stand firm on executive privilege, but he has even stronger grounds at his disposal.

More to the point, Trump can justifiably argue that the Congressional over-reach by Democrats is an attempt to cover-up and prevent development of the criminal cases of their own collusion and worse that produced the Steele dossier and the subsequent 2-year attack on Trump. Barr has launched investigations of this sordid war on Trump, and Democrats (with some Republican allies) are trying to derail his efforts. They are trying to portray themselves as on the side of the Constitution, but this is a fake theme. Sooner or later, a book will come out that nails Obama, Brennan, Clapper, Comey and the rest of their gang; and also ties the package up with a recounting of the incessant FALSE reports published by their propaganda organs, especially The Washington Post.

The efforts by Pelosi and her gang to fog up the public conversation with outlandish charges and lies has one goal of defending against the Barr investigations, the documents to be declassified, the government documents to be uncovered through freedom of information requests, the whistle-blowers, the other forthcoming reports, and the books that will be published that reveal facts of criminal undermining of the Trump campaign and his subsequent administration.
