Last year, the President of Kenya burned up 232 million dollars worth of elephant ivory. This kind of thing has been going on for at least three years. Not to be outdone, Manhattan’s District Attorney has now crushed several million dollars worth of ivory. He was joined by “the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner”.
On any grounds that ivory-destroyer proponents may choose, burning tusks and crushing art works fashioned from tusk ivory cannot be defended.
