Carly Fiorina Destroyed Value at Hewlett-Packard

August 11, 2015

Hewlett-Packard vastly underperformed the S&P 500 and the industry while she was at the helm. Her ineptitude is immediately evident in that she made the major error of buying COMPAQ. See here. She thinks a lot of herself but her performance doesn’t back her up.

She told the world that her first phone call would be to Netanyahu to assure him of friendship, and her second call to Iran’s Supreme Leader to threaten him.

Her saying this and the idea itself show an alarming lack of judgment and savvy. They show also that her priorities are screwed up.

Donald Trump, by the way, as a manager and entrepreneur has taken on huge risks by borrowing heavily. The risks have fallen mainly on those who loaned to his enterprises. The risks have been excessive and ill-timed, which has led to 4 Chapter 11 bankruptcies. Can we infer that as candidate and as an elected politician, he will continue to take big risks with resources supplied by others and with the country?
