The Amerikan Empire is so awash in cruelty, corruption and oppression that it’s difficult if not impossible to choose its worst atrocity. But surely among the Top Ten are its kidnapping of children for cash, courtesy of the Orwellian “Child Protective Services.”

Thanks to CAPTA, the “Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 1974,” the Feds actually pay states to split up families. And we aren’t talking a couple of pennies here and there tossed to the new caretakers, either: as I recently reported, “in California, in 2010, each victim transferred $6000 per month from federal to local coffers (with only $600 of that subsidizing the foster parents, if any).”

Given that enormous incentive, CPS increasingly preys on parents of children with congenital or genetic diseases, accusing Mom and Dad instead of the illness of harming their tykes. Here’s the heartbreaking case of the Timmons family, who lost their 2-year-old and seven-week-old sons to CPS when the baby broke his arm because of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. And in a particularly savage twist, observers have “noted a pattern of adopted and former foster children having their own children seized by Child Protective Services”; both Mr. and Mrs. Timmons were adopted as infants.
