Last summer the senior class at Loyola University Maryland voted for “America” to be the theme of their November 18 senior party. As one college senior explained to The Daily Caller, “We . . see the theme ‘America’ as a way to forget political divide and come together as a country and [senior] class and celebrate all that we have accomplished.” But the university administration did not see it that way at all.
After trying to brainwash these Loyola students into hating America for three years (with its pervasive and incessant “racist/sexist/homophobe! racist/sexist/homophobe!” mantra, the mating call of cultural Marxists everywhere, Loyola’s university bureaucrats were outraged by the “America” theme and tried to threaten and intimidate the student government party organizers into dropping it. A top administrator wrote a threatening letter to the student organizers of the party saying that the “America” theme was “very alienating, divisive, and harmful” and “against the university’ core values.” Those “values” are apparently totalitarian PC cultural Marxism and the complete stamping out of all who might question those “values.”
One Susan Donovan, the university’s executive vice president, sent two of the student party organizers a letter in which she claimed to have “talked with a number of students and heard from faculty members” about the party and “none of it is positive and sounds very alienating, divisive, and harmful.” (These communications were shared with The Daily Caller by the students). Ms. Donovan obviously didn’t bother to speak with any members of the majority of the senior class who voted over the summer for the “America” theme. Instead, she employed the old bureaucratic trick of talking only to a few hand-picked fellow ideologues and then insinuating that she had somehow conducted a fair-minded survey). “I encourage you to reconsider,” she told the students, because such a party would “reverse” the “progress” made on campus “with a theme that divides us.”
The dean of students, one Sheilah Horton, piled on with a long email accusing the students of being “insensitive” because students who dress in patriotic attire at the party may “offend or oppress others.” I’m not making this up; this is how the infantile-minded university bureaucrats in today’s world actually speak. Seeing an American flag at the party might make some students feel “unsafe,” said Horton, and may even be harmful to future student applications. By this she presumably meant fewer applications from high schoolers who have already been brainwashed into being America-hating leftist crybabies like herself.
The student organizers of the party called such gibberish “rude” and “disgusting” and the party went on without a hitch. A good time was had by all — except for the angry, hateful, Marxist-minded PC ideologues who run the university administration.
UPDATE: The Washington Post has gotten into the act with this article. The comments are almost all scathing toward the university administration, i.e, “idiocy is upon us.” In light of this, university president Brian “Pinocchio” Linnane sent out an email to the university community announcing that “our community is enriched” by “diversity of thought.” Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,! Good one Pinocchio! He made a similarly phony and laughable statement in defense of “academic freedom” after he personally maliciously libeled Dr. Walter Block several years ago for the “sin” of giving an invited public lecture on free-market economics at his university. This time, however, his administration’s conniving and bullying and intimidating of young students was outed when the students themselves sent administration emails to The Daily Caller.
