The state-by-state betting now places Sanders ahead of his rivals in every single primary contest yet to be run. That’s 49 contests plus D.C. Iowa is over and Buttigieg “won”.
The Predictit map of the U.S. shows a complete wall of red and pinks, which is the fitting color assigned to Sanders.
The party bosses cannot now again shove aside the popular Sanders candidacy without causing an immense party upheaval, so they probably won’t. There have been some public attacks on Sanders from the old guard like Hillary, Carville and Chris Matthews, but they appear feeble as against his momentum. The best chance of legacy party controllers is to degrade Sanders’ upcoming New Hampshire win and spin his victory there as indicative of weakness as a national candidate. It won’t work.
Another betting market to check is this one. Sanders is front-runner there too.
Sanders has this nomination race wrapped up on the basis of the many primaries yet to be held.
The effects of a Sanders’ win upon the Democratic party and upon national politics will be very large. The current betting makes Trump the winner against Sanders.
