Why Not Make It 99?

New York City has just passed a law banning tobacco sales to anyone under 21; that is, to a group of legal adults who can vote, be drafted, marry, and enter into contracts. Another stupid law is that the drinking age is 21 is all the states (I have written about this here). Also, I believe that gamblers must be 21 to legally gamble in most casinos.

Why not make it 99? That is, why not make the age to smoke, drink, and gamble 99? This way none of the negative effects of these things will take place until someone is old enough to where they are about to die and it won’t make any difference.

Cursed be the nanny state.
