The “Supreme” Court?

I’m sure many readers are familiar with the quote by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.” Talk about prejudiced. Well, now another Supreme Court Justice has exposed not only a similarly prejudiced anti-male sentiment but a bit of a narcissistic attitude as well.

As Prof. Jonathan Turley writes on his blog, it appears that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has exemplified the female version of Bobby Riggs, if there could ever be such a thing. In several recent interviews, Justice Ginsburg commented on the Hobby Lobby case, in which the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that certain types of businesses are exempt from the law mandating contraception provision. Ginsburg really believes that the 5 male justices on the high court voted as they did because they are male, because they have a “blind spot.” (Now, even Bella Abzug wasn’t that bad, in my view.)

And Turley also noted that, when asked about those on the Left who want her to retire soon so Barack Obama has a chance to appoint her successor, Ginsburg apparently became feisty, responding to the AP, “So who do you think could be nominated now that would get through the Senate that you would rather see on the court than me?” And then when asked the same question by Reuters, responding, “So tell me who the president could have nominated this spring that you would rather see on the court than me?”

Hmmm. How about a non-communist? (Ya think?)
