UPDATE from Skip Oliva:
12:56 pm on December 5, 2014Having lived in Charlottesville a few years now, it’s been interesting to watch the campus mob psychology at work. Two years ago UVA’s board decided to oust President Teresa Sullivan after a short time on the job. The precise objections of the Board were never made quite clear, but the faculty and student body quickly mobilized to demand Sullivan’s reinstatement. It was the darndest thing–a mob demanding a return to the status quo. The mob got its wish and the Board rehired Sullivan. Then, as you know, Sullivan heeded the mob’s demands to collectively sanction the Greek system following the Rolling Stone article. Now that the article has come into question, local critics are now calling for Sullivan’s resignation. And so we’ve come full circle!
