The New Republic magazine was founded in 1914–the era of progressivism and fascism–by wealthy members of the US oligarchy and statist intellectuals. Its explicit goal: to promote war and the corporate state. In more recent years, it’s been a neocon organ. Now a new owner has sloughed off some of the old employees and seeks to take the money drain into the 21st century technologically. He is also moving the mag to NY and out of DC, which is all to the good. Unfortunately, we probably can’t hope for more.
